Gossip Girl’s Savannah Lee Smith and Tavi Gevinson reunite on set for Roger Vivier

To promote the iconic Belle Vivier and Viv’ Rangers booties, French luxury designer Maison Roger Vivier called upon the help of actresses Savannah Lee Smith and Tavi Gevinson from HBO Max's hit new Gossip Girl reboot.
In a series of images shot by New York-based photographer Heather Hazzan, Smith and Gevinson sport retro styles from the 60s, channelling supermodels Twiggy and Donyale Luna. Styled by Eric Daman, the campaign features new Autumn/Winter 2021 Belle Vivier creations, including yellow tartan slingbacks, white leather pumps with tortoise buckles, and hot pink mules. Toying with the boundaries of masculine and feminine, the costume designer also paired a vintage short sequin dress with the Viv’ Rangers Booties.
“These Viv' Rangers were made for walking!” says Daman. “From spanning decades of style in the original GG to keeping it current with GG2.0, Roger Vivier has been a constant source of inspiration. Fusing past and present, Vivier was parfait for Blair Waldorf and has been equally exquisite in adorning the petits pieds of Monet De Haan and Kate Keller. Teaming up with Vivier for a modern-day, 60s-inspired shoot starring Tavi and Savannah was a dream come true!”
Dream Collaboration
Dancing to the rhythm of David Bowie’s “Young Americans”, the duo’s friendship was evident on set, which featured stylish mod furniture to create a retro vibe. Tavi Gevinson muses: “I loved seeing what the team at Roger Vivier and Eric had in store for this shoot. They drew upon so many of my favourite references. Savannah and I just got to hang out and geek out over each other's looks all day.”
Savannah Lee Smith, who made her screen debut this year on Gossip Girl, said of her collaboration with the French Maison: “Working with Roger Vivier was an absolute dream. This project had such a clear vision and aesthetic that brought fun and life to the set. It was really fun to work with Eric on such a stylised project, with the whole 60s mod vibe. And it was cool to step into a character shaped by the clothes and accessories.”
