Get up close and personal with Roger Vivier’s Creative Director, Gherardo Felloni
With the appointment of Gherardo Felloni as Creative Director of the Maison, Roger Vivier continues its tradition of visionary design and exceptional style. Born in Tuscany, Felloni has already spent a lifetime living and working with shoes and accessories. While he originally planned to be an architect, his father encouraged him to apply his ability to draw the natural world around him to shoes. After spending time at his family’s shoe atelier, he continued honing his skills working for some of the world’s leading fashion houses. Over the past 10 years, he has led footwear, leather goods and accessory design for different luxury Maisons in Paris. His love affair with design is influenced by his own personal passion for the arts – a trait he shares with Roger Vivier - whether exploring interior design, collecting antique jewelry or singing opera as a tenor.
Since starting in his new role in March 2018, he has brought his vast and unique experience to the Parisian luxury accessories Maison. For his first collection, Felloni studied the vast archives, taking in the codes of the house but at the same time creating something totally new and contemporary. He took Vivier’s penchant for heels and invented some of his own, one of which resulted as the Maison’s athleisure sneakers – the Viv’ Run, and another on his reinterpretation of the iconic Belle Vivier pumps, now reborn as Très Vivier. Beyond the collections, Felloni also expands his involvement towards the Maison’s image, communicating his creative vision, not just through the shoes and accessories he designs, but also through theatrical event concepts, such as “Hotel Vivier” and “Daydream Vivier,” and short films such as “Duo des Chats,” that stars no less than Catherine Deneuve.
