Roger Vivier Continues Collaboration with Plan International
Roger Vivier continues its partnership with Plan International - an organization that aids vulnerable children, especially young girls, to receive quality education - in a project that will defend their right to learn and help them build a better future. Maison Roger Vivier recognizes the important role that women play to influence global change. They are a key demographic whose opinions and voices are getting heard more and more each day. With this collaboration, the Maison is helping shape the voices of the future, the young girls of today who will become the women leaders of tomorrow. The collaboration began in 2018 when Roger Vivier and Plan International launched a campaign that helped children in Cameroon and Benin. Last 2019, the project continued for its second year and yielded exceptional results, giving hope for a brighter future to hundreds of children from disadvantaged communities. In Cameroon and Bénin, more than 700 children benefitted from the project. Out of school children were sent to accelerated schools where they received refresher courses, then came back to formal school where they were each given a scholarship kit – a backpack with notebooks, books, pens and other school supplies. Young men and women received vocational and life skills training to help them find job placements or give them knowledge for self-employment. More than fifty teachers have been given updated training in gender-inclusive education. Community centers and children’s clubs were also placed in different villages, where sports and cultural activities are held for the children and workshops are organized for the local community to raise awareness on girls’ rights and education. Parents are taught livelihood skills for them to have a sustainable source of income to support their families. This year, the partnership continues with projects that will reinforce the activities implemented by Plan International and supported by Roger Vivier over the last two years. The collaboration will target more than 30 000 children in Cameroon and Bénin, continuing to work towards the goal of providing quality education for young girls in disadvantaged countries.
